The Psalm Review is a space for soul-centered education and culture critique by Kiara Lee, PhD.
Dr. Kiara Lee currently teaches writing to college students as an assistant professor. Lee earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a Spanish minor from University of Richmond, a master’s degree in education for University of Virginia and a PhD in education from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is the author of 3 books — Light-Skinned, Dark-Skinned or In-Between?, Be A Man Tyrone: What Happens When Daddy Goes to Prison,” and “She Forgot Who She Was: Poetry for Women Lost & Found.” She has been writing education and culture critique for many years across many different platforms. Her award-winning piece “A Crooked Seat at the Table: Black and Alone in an Honors Class” landed her a Green Eye Shade Award. She is also a communication consultant & strategist through her consulting company, The House of Psalm. Through her work, she weaves together awareness, community and creativity; all 3 landed her a spot on Style Weekly’s Top 40 Under 40 List (Richmond, VA). Her brands are named after her beloved daughter, Psalm.
